Job Description
The China Region Lakes Alliance (CRLA) is hiring seasonal, part-time boat launch attendants as Courtesy Boat Inspectors (CBIs). For 20 years, CRLA has successfully protected regional lakes from invasive plants and organisms that have infested nearby lakes, costing hundreds of thousands in remediation and harming ecosystems.
Role of a Lake Guardian
CBIs educate boaters and inspect boats, motors, and fishing gear for invasive "hitchhikers." This friendly, informative approach helps boaters while protecting lakes from invasive species.

Ability to work outdoors in all weather
The program covers 5 boat launches on China Lake, Webber Pond, and Three Mile Pond, operating Friday through Sunday from late June to September. Flexible scheduling available with up to 30 hours per week.
Pay starts at $16 per hour depending on experience.
Training provided.
Funded by the towns of China and Vassalboro, Kennebec Water District, DEP, and local lake communities.
